About ECT

Environmental Consulting Team (ECT) is a local company which delivers expert environmental and social consulting services tailored to the needs of international financial institutions, governments, and private sector partners in Kosovo and the region. With experience across projects funded by the World Bank, EBRD, IFC, UNDP, USAID, and KfW, ECT has become a trusted advisor in the field. Our commitment is to help clients balance project goals with environmental and social sustainability, delivering compliance-driven, cost-effective, and innovative solutions.

We carry out due process, using local and international specialist associates, in collaboration with our clients, stakeholders and the communities affected by the projects we work on. We work hard to uncover critical environmental and social information and to develop solutions to enhance project benefits, and minimize impacts through avoidance, minimization, restoration, compensation and offset. We aim to get the balance right.

Services

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA)

An Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) is a comprehensive process used to evaluate the potential environmental and social effects of a proposed project before it begins. It helps identify risks, minimize negative impacts, and enhance positive outcomes for communities and ecosystems. Through careful analysis and stakeholder engagement, ESIA supports responsible decision-making and promotes sustainable development. At ECT, we conduct the ESIA in accordance with Kosovo legislation and aligned with standards from institutions such as the World Bank, EBRD, and IFC.

Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD)

Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) is the process of assessing a project’s or company’s environmental and social risks and performance, typically during investments, mergers, or acquisitions. It ensures compliance with applicable laws, standards, and best practices, while identifying potential liabilities and opportunities for improvement. ESDD helps investors and stakeholders make informed decisions and promotes responsible, sustainable business operations.

Water and Waste Management Permit Application

A Water and Waste Management Application is a structured plan or system designed to efficiently manage water use and waste generation within a project or facility. It ensures compliance with environmental regulations, promotes resource conservation, and minimizes pollution. By addressing water sourcing, usage, treatment, and waste disposal, the application supports sustainable operations and reduces environmental impact.

Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) & Frameworks (RPF)

A RAP is a detailed and site-specific plan that describes how the resettlement will be implemented for a particular project or subproject once its design and impacts are known.

An RPF is a guiding document prepared when the exact locations or scope of a project are not yet known at the time of project appraisal, but the project is likely to involve involuntary resettlement.

Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS)

An Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) is a set of processes and practices to consistently implement your company’s policies to meet your business objectives. The goal is to make sure that you have the appropriate policies and procedures in place and that people consistently follow them. The management system helps to assess and control your risks and is the key to lasting improvement. A key feature is the idea of continual improvement – an ongoing process of reviewing, correcting and improving your system.

Municipal Environmental Permit (MEP)

A Municipal Environmental Permit is an official authorization issued by a municipal authority that allows a proposed activity or project with potential environmental impact to proceed, ensuring it complies with environmental protection standards as defined by environmental legislation
